Al Siraat’s Primary Boys Handball team hit the court with energy and confidence in their recent match — and while the result didn’t go our way, their efforts spoke volumes.

The team fought hard in what became a tight game, ultimately losing by just 2 points. But the spirit and sportsmanship were on full display.

“I feel pretty good and confident as a team,” said Ahmed A. “There weren’t many options to pass. They were pretty good, but we messed up quite a bit. Still good overall — just not enough communication.”

Noah L added with reflection, “I feel good too, and I’m a bit mad — but at the end of the day, it is what it is. I’m also really proud of the team overall… but it is what it is.”

Despite the challenges, the team showed significant improvement and maturity in their gameplay. The loss stings, but the pride is real — and the message is clear:

Next time, we’re going to win!

Well done to the team for giving it their all — your hustle doesn’t go unnoticed. Let’s keep training, communicating, and stepping up our game. Onwards and upwards!

The Al Siraat A and B footy teams recently competed in a high-energy match against Marymede College during the SSV Footy competition. Spirits were high, determination was clear — but the results? Well, let’s just say there’s room for growth.

Despite the score lines, the players displayed heart, hustle, and honesty in their post-match reflections.

“We are 100% confident in winning, and my position is defence. The teamwork and communication isn’t so great, but we’ll work on it in the second half,” shared Yusuf A, showing true resilience.

Imran A added, “Our defence is good, but they’re making some mistakes. We could’ve done better, yeah…”

The B Team faced an overwhelming defeat with a final score of 95-06, while the A Team put up a stronger fight, but still lost 66-24. Both teams walked away with lessons learned and heads held high.

“I feel good — the same with the team — but we could’ve played better,” said Hussain.

Judy didn’t hold back: “I feel like the team is not as good, and we looooost!!! But we have to destroy them next time!”

As Noah L put it: â€śIt is what it is.” But that’s not the end — it’s just the beginning.

OVERALL SORE FOR ALL AL SIRAAT SPORTS: Even though Al Siraat had help from Allah ( SWT ) , Allah had done what was meant to be for Al Siraat, to possibly protect them from something even worse. May Allah ease all the SSV players for their effort and may Allah reward them for their sportsmanship and representation of Islam. Ameen. Inshallah next time, Al siraat earn victory from Allah and smash the next team!!

Our very own Year 6 student Zayn Abdallah has been outstanding in his high performance recognition in AFL to be selected for one of the biggest Academies in Australia.

Below is a summary of Zayn’s experience, in his own words:

This year, qualifying in the 12–15 age category, I had the opportunity to try out for the Adam Saad Academy. I attended an ATP (Athlete Talent Profile) assessment, which tested our sporting abilities. I was quite nervous due to a wrist injury, which had a big impact on my performance.

After several weeks, I received my results. Alhamdulilah, I did well and placed in the top 5 high-performance group, which allowed me to make the Adam Saad Academy.

The Adam Saad Program is run by the Carlton Football Club and is designed to help kids like me develop both football and life skills. The program is coached by Adam Saad himself and includes leadership training, cultural awareness, and educational sessions, alongside football skills and an insight into the lifestyle of a professional athlete.

During my time in the academy, I had the chance to meet athletes from diverse cultural backgrounds and form new friendships. I also had the privilege of being coached by Carlton legend Greg “Diesel” Williams.

One of the biggest highlights of the academy was being able to train on the field of one of the greatest teams in the AFL—Carlton!

On Saturday the 14th of June, the Urdu Community School at 911±¬ÁĎÍř came alive with a festive spirit as we gathered to celebrate Eid ul-Adha together.

The day was filled with joy, reflection, and unity as we marked this important occasion in the Islamic calendar. The highlight of the event was the vibrant dress-up where students proudly wore their Eid attire, showcasing the beautiful diversity within our community.

Families contributed to a delightful selection of nibblies which featured a colourful spread of sweets, savouries, and snacks. From traditional treats to fruit platters and party snacks, the table was a symbol of generosity and togetherness.

The event concluded with laughter, conversations, and heartfelt appreciation for the strong bonds that make our Urdu Community School a truly special place.

We extend our sincere thanks to all the families and staff who helped make this celebration a memorable success. Jazaak Allah to all!
