News Student Leadership
31 July 2025
On Tuesday, 29 July 2025, our College Captains, Vice-Captain, and two Year 12 Senior Student Representatives proudly represented Al Siraat at the annual Student Representative Council (SRC) Forum hosted by Al Taqwa College.
Bringing together SRC students and staff from Islamic schools across Melbourne, the forum was a vibrant space for connection, leadership growth, and learning. Students participated in engaging activities and a workshop on Leadership from an Islamic Perspective, encouraging reflection on values such as sincerity (Ikhlas), intention (Niyyah), and responsibility (Amanah).
Our student leaders found the forum enriching and inspiring, as they shared experiences, discussed challenges, and explored ways to strengthen student voice in their own school communities.
We sincerely thank Al Taqwa College for hosting this year鈥檚 event and for their dedication to building a strong and supportive network among SRC representatives across Islamic schools.
鈥淭he environment at the Al-Taqwa Leadership Muslim Get-Together was truly immersive. The ongoing exchange between students and teachers kept us actively engaged and made the experience feel dynamic and meaningful. The ideas shared about the De Bono Hats, especially their integration with Islamic values, were both thought-provoking and inspiring. I feel genuinely honoured and lucky to have had the opportunity to take part in such an enriching event.鈥 鈥 Afra Shehzad, Year 12
鈥淭he SRC Islamic interschool forum at Al-Taqwa College was a powerful reminder that many people judge Islam not by the Quran or Hadith, but by the way we carry ourselves in our daily lives. We explored prophetic leadership qualities such as Ikhlas (sincerity) and Niyyah (intention), which reminded us that true leadership begins with a pure heart and purpose. Most importantly, it reinforced that leadership is an Amanah (trust and responsibility) that must be upheld with integrity and accountability.鈥 鈥 Farhan Abid, Year 12 (ASC Boys Vice-Captain)
鈥淥ur visit to Al Taqwa College was a valuable opportunity for the captains of Al Siraat to deepen their understanding of leadership through collaboration and open dialogue. The workshop fostered meaningful connections between student leaders and encouraged the exchange of ideas, challenges, and aspirations. It was inspiring to see young leaders unite with purpose, walking away with renewed confidence and a shared sense of community.鈥 鈥 Amaar Hamida, Year 12 (ASC Boys Captain)
