Year 9 KLIC: City Adventures

15 September 2025

This term, our Year 9 KLIC students swapped their classrooms for the sights and sounds of Melbourne. From trams and trains to the Melbourne Museum and Aquarium, they explored culture, history, and the natural world in new ways.

Year 9 KLIC: City Adventures

As a reflection of their journey, they created the following collaborative poem:

City Slickers: KLIC Adventures
By the Year 9 KLIC Students

This term, we traded our quiet classrooms for the hum of the city,
stepping onto trams and trains like explorers of old,
learning that respect travels with you
in the way you move, speak, and make space for others.

At the Melbourne Museum,
we stood before the stories of the First Peoples
marvels etched into the land,
whispering truths of resilience, spirit, and connection.
We felt the ancient heartbeat of Country
thrumming beneath our feet.

At the Sea Life Aquarium,
we drifted into blue worlds,
watching creatures weave silent tapestries of colour and light.
Each fin and ripple reminded us
how delicately the world is stitched together
how much depends on our care.

We returned to school with city dust on our shoes,
wonder in our eyes,
and a promise in our hearts
to walk gently,
to listen deeply,
and to guard the beauty of our shared home.
