Year 9 Interfaith Students’ Visit to St Monica’s College

31 July 2025

Sixteen of our Year 9 Interfaith students recently visited St Monica’s College in Epping as part of our ongoing Interfaith Dialogue Project. This program helps students explore what it means to be an 911 Muslim while promoting respect and understanding between faiths.

During the visit, our students participated in a meaningful interfaith dialogue workshop, shared refreshments, and toured the SMC campus alongside their Interfaith student leaders. A highlight of the day was the group discussion, where students openly shared their beliefs and cultures, helping to break down stereotypes and build lasting connections.

We thank St Monica’s College for their warm hospitality. This excursion was a valuable step in building bridges between communities through mutual respect and open dialogue.

Student Reflections

Our recent interfaith visit to St Monica’s College was a valuable and eye-opening experience. We were warmly welcomed and began the day with a meaningful dialogue, where we exchanged thoughts about our faiths and shared common values. We then visited their College chapel, where we learned about Catholic customs and practices and were able to ask them some questions. We then had a nice school tour before ending the visit with another round of respectful dialogue and heading back. It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of understanding, respect, and unity across faiths and as Muslims.” - Mohaned Dao, Year 9L

“The excursion to St Monica’s today was not only enjoyable but incredibly fascinating! I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to visit them especially because I have always been so curious about many aspects of Christianity and how their faith differs from ours. I really enjoyed touring the school and seeing all the facilities and resources they had available (like the FIFA approved soccer field). My personal favourites were undoubtedly the library and the chapel where we gained a deeper understanding of their prayers and had the chance to ask questions in a respectful environment.” - Nabiha Khan, Year 9L
